“Origami. It’s the sushi of paper.”
Much like sushi, the art of folding paper has spread abroad and is now enjoyed by people all over the world. With so many different artists taking part in the same craft, the results can be breathtaking, just like these pieces by self-taught artist, Cuong Nguyen of Hanoi, Vietnam.

Nguyen creates his origami using do, a traditional Vietnamese paper, making for a wonderful Vietnamese twist on the Japanese art. Amazingly, many of his works are made from a single piece of paper. Nguyen has been featured in several origami books and is also a member of the Vietnam Origami Group, a community of folded paper enthusiasts residing in Vietnam.

Nguyen comments about his passion for origami on his flickr profile: “What I love about origami is that I can make anything from one piece of paper just by folding it. Since I’m not good with words, I use origami to share my ideas, how I feel and how beautiful this world is.” Beautiful words to go along with his equally beautiful paper art.
